FBI Investigating White Powder Mailed to Speaker Johnson’s Church

The powder was taken to local laboratories for testing.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is investigating a letter containing an unknown white powder that was sent to the Louisiana church attended by Speaker of the House Mike Johnson. The House speaker was made aware of the suspicious letter on Monday, and authorities were quickly called to take care of it. Field tests on the powder did not detect any dangerous substances, but the FBI is continuing to test the powder in local laboratories.

Speaker Johnson’s spokesman stated, “Speaker Johnson and the Johnson family thank U.S. Capitol Police, the FBI, the Louisiana State Police, and the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office for taking swift action and handling the situation professionally.”

“Sending a hoax letter is a serious crime,” the FBI stated. “Anyone with information is asked to contact the FBI, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, or local authorities. You can also submit a tip online at tips.fbi.gov.”

The U.S. Capitol Police and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service were involved in the first response to the letter. The FBI’s investigation is ongoing.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For FBI officials as they investigate the powder that was sent to Speaker Johnson’s home church.
  • For federal, state, and local officials as threats to their safety and wellbeing have increased.
